Some are asking if recent floodwaters are reason to re-treat their homes for termites. If you’ve previously had your property treated for protection against termites, you do not automatically need to have it re-done. A few considerations regarding termites and floodwaters:
- If your property was treated by soil application, the product is bound to the soil. You would only need to consider a re-treatment if the treated soil has eroded or otherwise been removed.
- If you are using a termite bait program, the saturated stations may need to be replaced.
- If you had a borate product applied to wooden members during construction, any portion of the building that was submerged should be evaluated by a termite specialist.
- If you have questions about your situation, we are happy to discuss it with you.
