Our History
How Bug Zero Began
After obtaining a BS in Agriculture, Ivan Eftink operated the family farm with his brother for eight years. Looking for new challenges he accepted a position with a pest control company in 1990. His degree enabled him to be certified quickly and he became fascinated by the business. Most importantly, he determined there were many areas of pest control that could be safer and more efficient. Eager to employ these concepts, Ivan founded Bug Zero out of his garage.
From this humble beginning, Ivan’s strong work ethic and instinctive decisions regarding pest control operations have catapulted Bug Zero into becoming one of the most successful businesses of its kind in Springfield and Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Ivan has introduced innovative approaches like a perimeter treatment vehicle–the only one like it in the area–that makes it possible to perform high volume exterior treatments at regular intervals around large facilities, stopping pests before they can enter.

Bug Zero’s quality service and value led to an extending radius of pest control requests.
In 2010, Bug Zero opened a second office in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to meet growing demand while maintaining standards of customer service and timely response. The Cape Girardeau office is owned and managed by Chris Horrell.

Ivan’s peers elected him as president of the Missouri Pest Management Association.
Probably the most profound determining factor regarding accomplishments in an industry is how the business is measured by contemporaries. You can trust the safety of your home to Bug Zero because trust and character are the cornerstones of the company built by Ivan.
